Black Friday Preparations

It was only a matter of time before someone did it, but K-Mart decided to remain OPEN on Thanksgiving Day.  I don't know about you, but I enjoy hanging out with my family during the holidays.  I don't believe I will go over to K-Mart today.

Anyway, my family is among those who join with the crazies on the day following Christmas.

As I went through the ads in the paper, I see that JC Penney has coupon for $10 off any purchase of $50 or more and a coupon for $15 off any purchase of $75 or more.  You can click HERE to view/print the coupons (Click on "View Coupons").  They will also give you a WAKE-UP CALL to ensure you get up in time!  THAT is funny!

Wal-Mart has a great deal on a Garmin GPS unit for only $128.88 – I suspect these will leave VERY quickly.

Best Buy has a TomTom GPS unit for only $119.99 – These WILL leave very quickly.  The details say you must have a ticket.  To get a ticket, you have to stand in line.  Starting at 3:00AM, Best Buy employees will start handing out tickets.  I am NOT that crazy.

I think the bottom line for me is that I will be shopping on Friday, but I won't AWAKE by the time many of the so-called doorbusters are sold.  That's OK.  I WILL go shopping with a written spending plan.  I know I won't go over budget because I have the plan.  I used the Mini-Budget (you can get your copy HERE) to develop the plan.

Have a great Thanksgiving Day!

I saw where the Prime Outlets in Gaffney opens up at Midnight tonight. I’ll be at home asleep. My husband and I went to KMart this morning on our way to my parents. I really didn’t see much that impressed me.

    Happy Thanksgiving!!

We have that GPS system. We named her Lucy and she did a great job helping us navigate our way around LA & San Diego. We have probably saved enough gas using the GPS to pay for her because now we don’t get lost. Although for some reason they don’t lead you to NewSpring. Something about the address sends you way out in the county to a tree.

My husband bought it at Circuit City one day when they had obviously mispriced it. The guy said he had sold 4 in about 15 minutes. We got it for $189. Best Buy wouldn’t match their online price and when we went back in with the receipt to show the manager he just shook his head that we even got it cheaper than on the internet.

I have a new Christmas strategy this year. I’m usually always finished and then I still keep shopping. So this year I just bought my daughters stuff (online as it was cheaper) and in a week or so when the stuff my husband wants gets cheaper I’ll buy it. I’ll probably go on 12/24 and get my mom a gift certificate and I’m done. I’m not buying all the presents I used to and I’m not overspending.

Thank you Joe for helping me realize I want to retire with some money to do something with (travel), that I want to send my child to college without her having to work her way through it and I want to be able to afford a nice wedding for her. I love Christmas and it’s meaning, but that doesn’t mean I have to overspend. I can enjoy it without buying unneeded gifts.

My mom and husband can’t believe I haven’t really asked for anything this year. Why is that? Because I don’t really need anything and there isn’t really anything I’m “dying” to have.
