I was under the impression that the government gave this incentive not only to get new home buyers to get loans, but to also persuase 2nd time qualiying home buyers to buy. Wouldent this infact make our national debt worse in the long run? It seems like the value of the dollar is droping so fast and the price of gold is going up so fast that eventually our monitary or paper assets wont be worth the time we spent saving them.

    I have a question.

I will be 100% debt free in approximately 7 months. I currently rent an old farm house and the rent is very reasonable, but my heating is propane, which is expensive, my electric bill is high because it is a large older home. My question is; I have an opportunity through a Rual Develpment Loan to purchase a newer home, more energy effecient… This would mean incurring debt… should I stay debt free and rent or purchase the home with a 30 year loan?? Please advise? Thank you!
