One of the biggest lies that young people believe is:
A young person recently said this when referencing contributions to her 401(k). She prefaced the statement with the two words “I’m young”. Put those two phrases together:
“I’m young. I can catch up later.”
What does it make you think of? Does anyone have a story where they said this and later regretted the fact that they waited to start contributing to their retirement account, college fund, wedding fund, Christmas, vacation, property taxes, annual insurance premiums, or similar major expense?
All I could think of was that this person might be destined for a fine house like the one below.
