Are You Willing To INVEST In It?

All people have dreams.   Most people have big dreams.   Yet, I see an incredible similarity among the vast majority of people – they are unwilling to invest in their dream.

Have you seen this happen in your life?

  • They want to start a business, but they want someone else to give them the start-up money.
  • They want to go to college, but only if someone will give them a scholarship.
  • They will take that job they are passionate about, but only if they can do so without any risk, no pay-cut, and guarantees.
  • The want to retire, but are unwilling to save and invest money in their retirement accounts.

I firmly believe that if you TRULY believe in your dream, you will be WILLING to invest YOUR money into it.

I have been using your monthly excel budget spreadsheet during the last 3 months.
My finances took a dive after I had several “unexpected expenses” happen all at once! Hot water heater replacement, gas furnace repairs, motorcycle repair, tahoe repair, etc…
I got angry, fired up, and went through the “HAD ENOUGH” moment.
Even in debt now, I paid off my Tahoe 3 months early, I’m saving for my upcoming wedding to Kierstin, our honeymoon (!!!), updates to my house (for her sake, so she WILL move in…), putting my son through a Christian School, and I am selling some big ticket items to raise cash to fund my dreams (and pay off more debt!).
I’m selling my 14.5 MPG, paid-off Tahoe, pocketing the CASH, and gonna invest it in some sort of interest-bearing account (what sort should I invest in?).
I’ll turn around and get me a cheap, $2000 car to cover me in the rain, get good fuel mileage, and then ride the motorcycle on the pleasant days (great gas mileage there!).
The fuel economy will pay off my new motorcycle in just 1 more year, I”ll pay for my El Cheapo ride in cash, and I’ll pocket +/-$15,000 cash from the Tahoe sale…
    Workin’ it, baby. Workin’ it!!!

My dream is to get OUT of debt (only have our mortgage to go) so my husband and I (We are teachers) can support more missions organizations, GO to do more missions ourselves, and maybe one day afford an international adoption.
