Teaching Young People About Money

I taught over 500 young people about money at West Ridge Church in Dallas, GA recently, and it was INCREDIBLE!  I was teaching from my book, What Everyone Should Know About Money Before They Enter The Real World.

Here is what stood out to me:

  • They were very energetic – but also paid attention very well
  • The compound interest example captured ALL of their attention – even the 6th and 7th graders!
  • Young people dream more than adults
  • Their dreams are much less impacted by the potential financial cost
  • They are just more passionate about life – period!
  • Most of them are more aware of money and money issues than the young people I was teaching five years ago.  I think the global recession has caused this generation to truly pay attention to money.
  • They clearly know that it is EZ™ to win with money!

THIS WEDNESDAY: Mountainview Christian Church – Gresham, Oregon

I am excited to bring the crusade to the Portland, Oregon area THIS WEDNESDAY – March 16th – at Mountainview Christian Church (Pastor TJ Southard).

We will be training financial coaches on Wednesday afternoon with the Financial Learning Experience that evening at 6:30PM.   At the same time, a member of our team will be teaching the youth how to PREVENT financial mistakes in the first place.

I’m FIRED UP!

Teaching TL Hanna Freshman All Day Monday – EIGHT Times!

I have the incredible honor to invest a day in the lives of the freshman class at TL Hanna high school (the high school my daughter will attend one day).   The teaching will be based out of my newest book, What Everyone Should Know About Money Before They Enter The Real World.

I am going to teach on the top 12 things that everyone should know about money.   Topics will include:

  • Have a plan for life
  • Have a plan for the money that supports the life plan
  • Debt
  • Student loans
  • Credit scores
  • Compound interest
  • Giving
  • Saving

We get to teach the class EIGHT TIMES tomorrow.   YES!

Colwood Church and Upcoming Events This Week

The I Was Broke. Now I’m Not. team had a GREAT time this weekend at Colwood Church (Pastor Jonathan Herron) in Caro, MI!   We were able to train four financial coaches/counselors, speak during both morning services, teach the Financial Learning Experience to the adults and What Everyone Should Know About Money Before They Enter THE REAL WORLD to the youth.   What an amazing response we had!   I am so dumbfounded that we get to do this life-changing work for a living!!!

The Cove Church – Mooresville, NC – Financial Learning Experience

I am PUMPED to be teaching the Financial Learning Experience at The Cove Church in Mooresville, NC each of the next two evenings – Monday (11/16) and Tuesday (11/17)!

The event is FREE, childcare is provided through 5th grade, and a light dinner will be provided.   All you have to do is REGISTER HERE.   So invite your friends, co-worker and family to attend this life-changing event!
