Another HUGE CHUNK has been paid off!  It is so exciting to see the mortgage balance declining at such a rapid pace, and we are so blessed to be able to do this!  It has now been 10 months since we cranked up our focus on the mortgage.  In that time, we have been able to pay for 8.6% of the house – that is almost 1% per month.

Jenn and I don’t take this blessing for granted. We know that we have been blessed beyond anything we could ever ask or imagine!

We clobbered some more debt this month.  It is AMAZING to see how much more of each month’s payment is now being applied to principal instead of interest.  We should only be 5 years along in the house pay-off, but we are actually where we would have been in year 15 if we had been satisfied with paying the minimum payment!!!  Just writing this fact FIRES ME UP!  YOU CAN DO THIS TOO!!!

We CRUSHED the mortgage again this month with three payments!  I am so fired up!  It is amazing what can happen when you stay focused on a specific goal for a long time.  We have encountered so many obstacles as we attempted to eliminate this mortgage, but now we are making huge progress every single month.

We’ve paid off the sun ro0om!!!  Now, we are starting to own the regular living quarters of our home.  It was six months ago that we began a FULL ASSAULT on paying this mortgage off.  It is simply amazing to watch the debt leave.  In just six months, we have accomplished the same amount of principal reduction that took 32 months to accomplish from August 2008 thru April 2011.

God-willing, we could even see our home mortgage eliminated by January 2013.  That, my friends, will be an incredible day.

For the 5th month in a row, we have been blessed with the opportunity to send in multiple payments!  This FIRES ME UP!  I like to look at it this way:  If the interest rate is 5%, then this means we save $50/year for each $1,000 we send in early.  On the first $1,000 we sent in, it means we have avoided paying that 5% interest for 30 years – a savings of $1,500 in interest!!!  In other words, we saved $1,500 by sending in $1,000! What a deal!  We have only 25 more squares to pay off in our sun room.

We CRUSHED the mortgage again this month!   Based upon our current rate of progress, we will own the entire sun room by the end of summer!   Since we are in “attack-the-home-mortgage” mode, I am using the FREE TOOL – Early Pay-Off Calculator a lot to see what we can do to make the mortgage leave even more swiftly.   Based on the current payments we are making, the mortgage will be gone (God willing and the creek doesn’t rise) in 67 months!   I’m believing it will be even faster.
