Lost It All

I recently listened to a keynote speech delivered by Dr. Kevin Elko.

He made a passing statement that really caught my attention.   In fact, three days after hearing it, I am still thinking about it and have even dreamed about it!

Here is the statement:

“If you lost everything you had today and got it back tomorrow, tomorrow would be the greatest day of your life!”

THAT is so true!   We can get so focused on what we do not have that we totally forget what we do have!

It has really challenged me to continually align my focus on being thankful for what I do have.   I hope it does the same for you!

I didn’t think too much about this post.. but then I watched an interview with the guy (from 127 hours?)that was pinned under the bolder in Utah.

Get this.. he was stuck for several days and nights, had to cut off his arm with a pocket knife then repel down a vertical cliff with a newly severed arm and then hike through the Moab for seven miles before he was picked up.

and he said… The ONLY time that he almost passed out and that he had to keep himself from going unconscious was at the moment when he freed up his arm.

Because in his words, the emotional impact of getting his life BACK was so intense and overwhelming. It was almost too much to bear.

Just seem that the quote and the story fit together.
