Marching To Debt Freedom – Couple #1 – Month 12

Introduction

Couple #1 is THROUGH with debt!  They have been married for many years and have two children.  They are now ELEVEN months into their Debt Freedom March.

Good/Bad This Month

This month went to plan. It is great to see these balances going down.  On the other hand, it is difficult for expenses to go up so much.  It seems as though all of our extra spending money is going in the tank and into the grocery cart, but I can't complain.  I feel very lucky.  We have a house that is not in foreclosure, and we have two great jobs with benefits and insurance.  We are so blessed.

Updated Debt Freedom Date

Month By Month Progress

Sangl Says

Couple #1 is now twelve months into their debt freedom march.  What a fantastic year it has been!  They have paid off $21,801.  This is what can happen when one is intensely focused on debt freedom and recognizes what life will be like when there is ZERO DEBT.

When Couple #1 started out, they had $35,695 in non-house debt.  They now have only $16,000 of non-house debt remaining.  Outstanding!

Couple #1 is doing a great job of sticking to their debt freedom march.  There are times that it seems almost unattainable, but it IS attainable and it IS so worth it!

Six credit cards GONE in eleven months-outstanding! For the Mrs. and I, the summer is a slow period toward our debt freedom march and it seems to be dragging on. I’m sure there are a few of you out there that might relate if you’re in sales or such and trying to tackle your debt. For the nerds, like me, I guess the trick to not get discouraged is to stop looking at the numbers so much. Otherwise, that freedom date can seem so far out of reach. Instead, remain proactive by reading an inspirational book like “I Was Broke, Now I’m Not,” and if you must calculate something, run the numbers on what that Mediterranean vacation will cost when your debt free!

Wow that is great they have paid off $21,801 in twelve months. They should be congratulated.

To many people this would look impossible because of their income. For many paying an extra $50.00 towards their debt is an extreme but a necessary step.

Braces should be knocked out in 2 months

WOW!This is GREAT! I like your comments in the good/bad for the month. I am sure glad you are on this plan so that you do have the money to go toward more food and gas. I am in the same situation. If I were not on my own spending plan, and then having to pay more for food and gas, I probably would have FELT “forced” to not pay a credit card or something just to eat… but thankfully I have had my IHHE moment and I don’t have to worry about that!! I can still sleep at night! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!

Great Job. Any thoughts about moving that BOA card to Discover for a 0% balance transfer?
